The Greatest Wealth Worth Having

I have heard someone express the greatest wealth we will ever experience in our lives is having a healthy body, a peaceful mind and having the right people in our lives.

We will examine this statement in the light of God's word.

The first point of the statement is 'having a healthy body.' It is a blessing to have a healthy body, but then, does that count as great wealth? What about those who are born without a healthy body, or is suffering from a serious illness, or been in a tragic accident? I would say that many times when we go through suffering, it is not because of something that we did to deserve it. Rather, I would say that through suffering we seek God. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33 KJV

The second point of the statement is 'having a peaceful mind.' There is only one lasting peace found in having Jesus Christ in our lives. "And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 KJV

The third point of the statement is 'having the right people in our lives.' Yes, it is important to have those who believe in having God in our lives, and that means everyday. Even when we may be surrounded by godless lives, we can still keep our testimony and show them by example that God is the most important to us

Therefore, the greatest wealth worth having is, the peace of God.

We Are Not The Captain of Our Souls

The man who wrote the poem "Invictus" (Unconquered), William Ernest Henley, did not put his trust in God for overcoming the trials he went through with the amputation of his one leg below the knee. He believed it was his strength of will that helped him overcome.

I am not here to pull a man down for his determination to overcome, but I would like us to remember it is God who is the "Captain of Our Souls." I would hate anyone or anything else other than God, to be the "captain of my soul."

I believe that when I give God permission to be the captain of my soul, I can be sure that I will be heading in the right direction. The direction that I am looking for is to be eternally with the One who created me.

"Yes, Lord, YOU ARE THE CAPTAIN OF MY SOUL."

Blood Transfusion - Physical vs Spiritual

Sometimes we may need a blood transfusion in order that our lives may be saved. The procedure can be very expensive, and even though we may have the blood transfusion, we will eventually die.

The Lord showed me that, as a blood transfusion saves a physical life, so, the blood of Jesus is a spiritual transfusion of His blood that saves our spirits. The difference between a physical blood transfusion and a spiritual one is, that we will live for eternity, even when we die physically. Let me explain.
  • Jesus gave His physical life when He was crucified on the cross. His blood was sacrificed for us, so that we may have life in Him. All we need to do is believe that He gave His life for us.
  • The blood of Jesus is free from the cost of money, but once we receive His blood, we are His for eternity. Isn't that wonderful! He paid for us with His precious blood. The blood of Jesus removes the sin from our spirits, just like a blood transfusion is necessary to remove cancer from our blood cells.
  • Jesus arose from being in the grave after the third day, and He lives forever, because there is nothing that can destroy the blood of Jesus.
  • We also need a transfusion of the words that come into our lives. I like to call it a "Word Transfusion." The Word of God will transform our lives, because now, we have His Word working in and through us. We need to put to death(crucify as it were) the negative, and destructive words that seem to come at us from everywhere. The only way we can live a victorious life, is through speaking the positive Words from God's Word. What comes out of our mouths will rule our lives.
Many have received a new life through Jesus, but their words hasten their departure from this life, because of the words that come out of their mouths. Proverbs 13:3 (KJV)says, "He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life."  We  will be defeated by speaking negative words.

Another verse warning us of defeat is found in Proverbs 18:21  (KJV) "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."

We need to speak the Word of God over a situation, whether it be a sickness, a financial lack, or whatever problem we may encounter. The Holy Spirit of God is faithful to help us to come out of a negative way of talking, and to have a victorious life, through Christ Jesus.

Let us believe the Word of God, and have all His promises working in and through us.

Romans 12:1-2 (KJV)says, "I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that acceptable and perfect, will of God."

Bible Study Comparing One of the Translations with the King James Version

Matthew 6:13b
The NIV omits an important part of the "Lord's Prayer, “For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever, Amen.”

Matthew 8:29
NIV translators omitted the name, "Jesus,” thou Son of God.

Matthew 17:21
The NIV omits verse 21.(This verse is in the original Greek manuscripts.) Did some of the translators of the NIV not believe in prayer and fasting?

Matthew 19:17
This verse should be stated correctly as, as in the KJV “Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God:”

Matthew 23:14
The NIV omitted this verse completely. Some of the translators of the NIV evidently did not like the word “damnation.”

Matthew 23:23
The word “faith” and the word “faithfulness” do not mean the same. The KJV of the Bible says, “By faith we are saved,” not by “faithfulness.  The book of Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Mark 9:29
The NIV omitted “fasting.” Our Lord Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights.

Mark 15:28
This verse was omitted from the NIV. This is a very important verse, as it is part of a prophecy from the book of Isaiah 53:12b in the Old Testament.

Luke 4:4
Words omitted in this verse, “but by every Word of God.” (This is one of the most important verses in the Bible) See Deuteronomy 8:3b NIV  "man does not live by bread alone."

Luke 4:8
"Get thee behind me Satan," in the KJV. Why did the NIV translators not put these words in?

Luke 6:40
“Perfect" is not the same as “fully trained," as stated in the NIV. Jesus wants us to be perfect in Him, not “fully trained.”

Luke 5:20
Jesus did not call the sinner “friend,” as translated in the NIV. He called him, “man,” as translated in the KJV

Luke 11:2-4
When we pray the Lord’s Prayer, we pray “Our Father which art in Heaven"
The NIV omitted the words “Our” and only mentions “Father.” Are they referring to another father?
In addition, “deliver us from evil” was omitted in verse 4 by the NIV translators. Did they not see a need for deliverance?

Luke 21:19
“Patience” is a gift of the Holy Spirit -- “Standing firm” is not the same.

"I am" Concerning believers in Jesus Christ

In this lesson we will look at what the Word of God tells us about ourselves once we become a believer in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians chapter one in the KJV
I am "blessed" with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus; verse 3

I am "adopted" by Christ Jesus; verse five.

I am "redeemed" (bought back), with Christ's blood, verse seven

I am "forgiven" of my sins, by Christ Jesus, verse seven

I am "filled" with all wisdom and judgement, by Christ Jesus, verse eight.

I am "a believer" in Christ Jesus; verse thirteen.

I am "sealed" (assured or confirmed)by Christ Jesus; verse thirteen

Because of these encouraging words, we can be assured of who we are once we become a believer in Christ Jesus. Amen.

"I AM THAT I AM"

What is God saying here concerning himself? It is written in the present tense.

God made this statement about himself, because whatever he did yesterday, He is able to do today
(present tense), and whatever He does today He will continue to do in the future (future tense).
I am, is not a complete sentence. God left this space open so that we can be reminded that He is everything mentioned below, and much more.
  • I am healing you. I healed you yesterday, I will heal you today, and I will continue to heal you in the future.
  • I am providing for you. I provided for you yesterday, I will provide for you today, and I will provide for you in the future.
  • I am protecting you today. I protected you yesterday, I will protect you in the future.
  • I am filling you with peace, in the storms that may be trying to engulf your life, I have done it yesterday, I am doing it today, and I will continue to fill you peace in the future.
  • I am unchanging today, I did not change in the past, and I will not be changing in the future.
  • I am present everywhere today, I was present everywhere in the past, and I will be present everywhere in the future.
  • I am all-knowing today, I was all-knowing in the past, and I will continue to be all-knowing in the future.
  • I am almighty today, I was almighty in the past, and I will continue to be almighty in the future.
  • I am forgiving today, I was forgiving in the past, and I will continue to be forgiving in the future.
Carefully study this short lesson; look up scripture in God's Word, to back up all that He says about himself.

Who Will Bear Our Burdens?

"Rejoice greatly, oh daughter of Zion Shout oh daughter of Jerusalem! Behold your King is coming to you. He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey."  Zechariah 9:9 NKJV

For those who know the story which was quoted in the Old Testament book of Zechariah, and fulfilled in the New Testament when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey a few days before the Passover that was observed by the Jews.

Notice that He rode on a "colt the foal of a donkey."  A donkey is used as a beast of burden. In other words, to carry goods, as they still do in many parts of the world.

Jesus did this to signify that He was not coming as a man of war, like would be on a horse, but on a lowly donkey, to signify His intended bearing of our burdens, and sins upon the cross. How wonderful, when we realize that we do not need to carry our own burdens or cares of guilt, whatever else may be burdening us.

When we come to accept His bearing of our burdens and sins upon the cross, we experience a new life in Him, because He arose from the grave three days later, triumphant over death.

The Right Treatment

Are you treating that condition in the right way?

The reason I am asking this question is because, I was reminded of this very thing when I incorrectly treated a condition. The condition was for bumps that had appeared on my body that were rather uncomfortable. The itch drove me to seek a lotion, or anything that would alleviate the condition. I found something that my daughter had obtained while we were on a trip. I was thinking that it would take care of the itch. After using this treatment for two days, with no success, I decided to read the instructions. I was dismayed when I read that it was for warding off insects, so that they would not bite. My daughter added insult to injury by stating, "That is why we go to school; to learn to read."

This brings me to the title of this blog, "The Right Treatment."

In life there are situations where treatment of conditions needs to be treated in the correct way. As for the situation, it could be different for each one of us. But, when it comes to the situation of a person with a hurting or lonely heart, there is only one treatment that will work. It is to call God who loves us so much and does not want to see us suffering! This is the right treatment for this situation, and many other situations that we may find ourselves in, in life.

Read: Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee."
John 14:6, Jesus saith unto him,"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

So, we are learning that we can only come to God, by Jesus Christ, because He is the way, the truth, and the life. We will not be able to go to God through our good works, any religion, or belief. It is so easy, if we would only use the "right treatment" if I can put it that way.

I had to learn the hard way, by the treatment of the bumps on my body(which sparked the thoughts for this analogy.)

God is In Control - Provision of God

Many things are happening daily in the world; the economy is in a bad way, the political situation worsens from month to month, people are insecure looking to the future.

Well, I have good news that will take care of all these things. GOD IS IN CONTROL,  if we will allow him to have control. It is no use saying things will work out and live the same old empty lifestyle, and depending on our own abilities. If we depend on the government or society to help us, we will be disappointed many times.

This world is not our final home, we are not to live like there is no tomorrow.

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you,I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14:1-3 (KJV)

There is a verse in the scriptures for every need we face.  When we are without hope, and have no peace, we can look to the Word of God, who provides us with hope, and peace.

Isaiah 26:3 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

This passage of scripture is not an automatic answer to everyone's needs, there is a condition to receive this promise. We have to believe in JESUS CHRIST and through repentance of our sins and accept Him as Savior, then He will become LORD of every situation. Only then can we receive this promise.

If we are sad and lonely the LORD promises to be a friend who will be closer to us than a brother.

Proverbs 18:24 "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."

If we have other needs, whether they be financial,  the LORD knows about them and knows how to provide them for us.

Philippians 4:19,  "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

And finally, if we are in sickness or distress, God has many promises for this need, I will mention only one at this time.

Psalm 103: 1-3 "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his Holy Name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
When the Doctor says there is no hope, the LORD says I am your hope.

Need Tuning?

In order to enjoy beautiful piano music, the piano needs to be in tune. This is not a task that anyone can do, but is performed by a trained piano technician. One of the tools he uses is a tuning fork to help him adjust the strings of each note.

You may say, what does tuning a piano have to do with our lives?  We need tuning in our lives to bring forth pleasing sounds(ways, actions) for the Lord. The same way the piano is unable to tune itself, so we too need God to tune us.
  • Firstly, we need to have our ears tuned so we may hear the Lord more clearly when He speaks to us. How will we do this? By blocking out sounds which are negative, like negative reports, evil speaking, critical words, or any other sounds that will cause us to be not tuned in to the Lord.
  • Secondly, our tongues need tuning so that we will speak only those words that are encouraging, praises for others and God, and singing joyful songs to the Lord. Speaking only those words that are wholesome, will cause us to be in tune with God. Read Psalm 19:14 (KJV) "Let the words of my mouth, and meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer."  "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)
  • Thirdly, our eyes need to be tuned so that we may see with the eyes of Jesus. He saw needs, and had compassion on the needy. He saw sickness, and healed all, even those who were oppressed by evil. He saw a fallen humanity, and offered his life as a ransom for all who would call on His Name.  He saw with caring eyes.
  • Fourthly, our minds need to be tuned so that we think of those things that are spoken about in the book of Philippians 4:8 (KJV)  "Whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there by any praise, think on these things." Proverbs 23:7a ( KJV)  "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:"  Let our thinking glorify God for He sees all, and knows what is in the heart of man.
Let us allow the Master tuner to tune our lives so that we will bring forth the right sounds, and bring honor and glory to Him who created us.

We would encourage to study the Word of God; take a concordance and look up verses that pertain to, ears, hearing, speaking, seeing, and the mind.

I Will Not Slide

"Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the Lord; therefore I shall not slide" Psalms 26:1 KJV
I will say to myself:
  • I will not slide in unbelief, because the Lord is the one in whom I trust.
  • I will not slide into a negative mindset, because the Word of God has many promises for me.
  • I will not slide into anger, because the Lord helps me to overcome.
  • I will not slide into unforgiveness, because the Lord helps me to forgive
  • I will not slide into discouragement, because I remember how the Lord has blessed me.
  • I will not slide into accepting lack, because God will supply all my needs.
  • I will not slide into sickness, because the Lord heals all my diseases.
I have trusted in the Lord, therefore I WILL NOT SLIDE.
