We Are Not The Captain of Our Souls

The man who wrote the poem "Invictus" (Unconquered), William Ernest Henley, did not put his trust in God for overcoming the trials he went through with the amputation of his one leg below the knee. He believed it was his strength of will that helped him overcome.

I am not here to pull a man down for his determination to overcome, but I would like us to remember it is God who is the "Captain of Our Souls." I would hate anyone or anything else other than God, to be the "captain of my soul."

I believe that when I give God permission to be the captain of my soul, I can be sure that I will be heading in the right direction. The direction that I am looking for is to be eternally with the One who created me.

"Yes, Lord, YOU ARE THE CAPTAIN OF MY SOUL."
